Sherneice Gatewood is the oldest of six children. Sherneice and her family have lived in the Bronx and Spanish Harlem, but has remained a Harlemnite for 30 years. Sherneice attended Touro College where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in 2010. Sherneice is a mother of her 21year old young lady and is the grandmother to handsome grandson who is a year old and the joy of her life. Sherneice’s passion is inspiring people through her stories, words of wisdom or even with a joke or two. Her main focus is always to see people happy and healthy. Sherneice currently is a case manager at HelpUSA’s HomeBase. Her job means the world to her as she is doing just what she loves to assist those who need a helping hand. Through her employment, Sherneice assists individuals facing threats to housing stability, those needing referrals for employment to assisting in securing the needed furniture for those without even a bed. Sherneice is a lifetime member at Frederick E. Samuel Community club where she is a part of the fundraising committee.
Sherneice is the CEO of We Are Phenomenal Woman (WAPW). WAPW is a group of women who are survivors of Domestic Violence and want to share their stories to help others who are going through the same. Sherneice is able to relate and bring this issue to the forefront because she to is a survivor of Domestic Violence. WAPW empowers women of all ages to take back their lives and to their own life experiences so it propels them to succeed. WAPW raises awareness of Domestic Violence and other community issues through workshops at various sites such as Churches, Local Democratic sites, and Schools. WAPW has also participated on several panels to discuss Domestic Violence and Empowering women. Two the most recent have been National Action Network and Metropolitan Correction Center for Women. WAPW believes in giving back to the community. Members participated in feeding the homeless at Metropolitan church. WAPW participated in “Sight for Small Eyes” at the Harlem Vision Center, where members were interviewed by DSN Pokemon internet radio and WHCR 90.3FM. The goal of WAPW is to become activists against Domestic Violence and to raise awareness about abuse.
